Who we are

We come from a mindset that we must always do our best. We come from a belief that 'good enough' just isn't good enough and that doing less than our best is a waste of our time and our customers' money. Those are reflected in the products we sell and the high standard of service we hold ourselves to. Mediocrity has no place in the sphere of security and loss prevention.

We charge a fair price consistent with industry standard for our geographic area. Our price is based upon two components. Our standard labor rate for general locksmith services is $90.00 for the first hour of work, with additional time billed at $45.00 per additional half hour. Our charge for safe and electronic technician services starts at $125.00 per hour. In addition to the labor charge, there is a trip charge if we have to come to you...and that's usually the case. We service all of Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, and Columbia Counties and our trip charge depends upon how far we have to go to get to you.

Our customer base consists of home owners, businesses large and small, maintenance and construction companies, police and fire departments, factories, department and specialty stores, shopping malls, restaurants like IHOP, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Denny's, as well as the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service, Federal Express and other shipping and freight companies, the United States Department of the Interior, New York State Parks Service, New York State Police, various departments at the Town of Poughkeepsie, United States Bankruptcy Court, Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, concert and show venues such as the Bardavon 1869 Opera House and Hutton Brick Yards, movie and television production companies...and folks just like you. Since 1975, we've been proudly providing security door hardware, fire and panic exit bars, door closers, safes, deadbolts, lever and knob door locks, emergency door and gate service, master key systems, lock rekeying, and general locksmith services. And we've been solving every kind of locking problem that's come along.

Where we came from

Dutchess Locksmith Service was established in 1975 by William J. Burke, a former communications and signal technician for what was then the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad. In addition to being expert at safes and locksmithing, Bill was a visionary. Prior to his death, he envisioned a day when lock and electronic technologies would be incorporated into the same device. Well, it eventually happened just the way Bill predicted it would and Dutchess Lock, with Bill's son, Pat, at the helm, has taken it to the next level. We stand ready to render over-the-top service relating to both technologies and to help you with all of your lock and physical security needs.

A lot has happened since 1975. Bill would be proud.
